John Bair

John Bair is a multi-disciplinary writer who specializes in narrative development. With a background that combines policy and storytelling, he brings a unique perspective to The New Wild. He is the bookwriter for Tear a Root from the Earth, a musical about the legacy of America’s involvement in Afghanistan, music from which has been performed at the Kennedy Center (DC), SXSW (TX), the New Ohio Theatre (NY), and BRIC (NY). He is also the Director of Communications for Everybody Is Gone.

He previously worked as an intelligence analyst at the CIA before becoming a Public Communications Officer and functioning as the CIA’s liaison to the Entertainment Industry. While in that position he served as a consultant to several projects, including the Academy Award-winning film Argo (WB, dir. Ben Affleck), about the CIA mission to extract Americans from Iran after the 1979 revolution. He also consulted on Zero Dark Thirty, Covert Affairs, and others.

Upon leaving Washington, he began working as a consultant for various arts organizations and political campaigns, combining his skill and passion for storytelling with his experience in policy. He was a Surrogate Writer on the Hillary for America 2016 campaign, and has ghostwritten numerous speeches, op-eds, and manifestos for a variety of political and arts leaders across the country. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College (BA in Asian & Middle Eastern Studies) and the George Washington University (M.Education).
